Comey was fired for lying? I think they were removed because trump is hiding something. I think everyone wants to know about this story because people are realized that they messed upppp voting for him. I believe the media has the right to question him. Yes, someone needs to be investigating him. I think there is a connection with Trump and Russia because, in reality, who would vote for him? I don't think enough is being done.

Captain Phillips: exaggerated?

2013's Captain Phillips featuring Tom Hanks as Captain Phillips and Barkhad Abdi as Abduwali Abdukhadir Muse, the head hijacker is told to be based off of a true story, though some characters feel their story hasn't been told. Even one of Phillips' crew who goes by ATM, says he alerted Phillips about the pirates only to have Phillips walk away and tell him it could be a fishing boat. Phillips denies this.

The question is, whose story is being told in this movie? Is the movie exaggerated to make some seem innocent and some guilty?

In the movie, Phillips received news about recent hijackings in the surrounding waters, but chose to keep his course. The Alabama sailed 300 to 400 miles from the Somali coast, in order to maintain a faster, more direct route, even though at least one warning cautioned that “vessels should consider maintaining a distance of more than 600 miles from Somalia coastline.” Phillips did not listen. The warnings were directed at all the ships in the area, but one was sent directly to Phillips.

The crew's efforts to take the ship back are also largely accurate, though some details are perceived as made up. The book never describes a barefoot pirate stumbling on a field of broken glass left by the crew as a booby trap. They all had sandals in the book.

Though he was made a hero by ensuing media reports, Phillips doesn't call himself a hero for these actions. In the movie, Phillips says things like, "If want to shoot someone, shoot me!" But Phillips says that he never meant to sacrifice himself for the crew, which is where the movie was exaggerated.

In real life, Phillips was on the rescue boat for almost five days, whereas in the movie it seems more like 36 hours or so.

In the movie, things got much worse after Phillips tried to escape, while one of the pirates was urinating off the boat. They asked him if he wanted beer, thinking that all Americans loved beer.

Overall, this movie seems slightly exaggerated and there are pieces that were missing and added in, but I would give this movie a rating of a 9 out of 10. I do recommend this movie for older ages just because there are very violent scenes and some bad words.

I loved this movie and I think it can teach many life lessons throughout it.

3. 9
4. the high points are that it supports feminism and girl power
5. low points are that adults arent very interested in it
6. "Sony Pictures Animation has gone back to the well and unapologetically left adults behind for the third entry in their Smurfs franchise. Discarding the combination of live-action and animation that marked the first two efforts, Smurfs: The Lost Village is strictly animated and geared only for younger viewers. The reboot directed by Kelly Asbury (Shrek 2) should please its target audience while providing little entertainment value to any adult chaperones who appreciated Neil Patrick Harris and Hank Azaria’s enjoyably over-the-top turns in the first two films."

Rogue One: Star Wars

1. Disney?
2. Tony Gilroy, Chris Weitz
3. 10
4. the high points, again, it has a strong female lead
5. the low points are that it isn't connected to the old movies at all
6. "What the film really lacks is a strong and vigorous male lead (such as Han Solo or John Boyega's Finn in The Force Awakens) to balance more equally with Jyn and supply a sparring partner. None of the men here has real physical or vocal stature, nor any scenes in which they can decisively emerge from the pack in a way that engages audience enthusiasm. Both Luna and Ahmed have proved themselves repeatedly in big-screen and television performances, but their characters never pop here, to the film's detriment. And given that Jyn is rather less gung-ho and imposing than was Ridley's Rey, there's an overall feel of less physical capacity on the part of the main characters."

The top swimmer for USA Olympic Swimming is Michael Phelps breaking 5 world records, including his own, and owns 28 olympic medals; 23 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze. The next four are Mark Spitz with 11 medals; 9 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze, Matt Biondi with 11 medals; 8 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze, Ryan Lochte with 12 medals; 6 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze and finally Gary Hall with 10 medals; 5 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze.
Michael Phelps won eight medals at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and six of those were gold. This brought him up to a tie for the record for medals at a single Olympics. In 2008, Phelps won eight gold medals at the Summer Olympics in Beijing. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Phelps won another four gold and two silver. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Phelps won five gold medals and one silver. In total he has won 28 Olympic medals, a record. 23 of these are gold medals.
In backstroke, you cannot flip onto your stomach. In butterfly, your feet cannot separate. In breaststroke, you may not flutter kick.
In competitive swimming, there are some words that may confuse non-swimmers like flip-turn, DQ and what 200, 400, 1600, etc mean.
A flip-turn is the turn a swimmer does when they touch the wall and turn their body (and flip it) to continue onto their next lap. The faster you can do this, the faster your race will be.
A DQ or (disqualification) is when you do something against the rules in the middle of your race, so judges can "DQ" you. This means that your time will not change no matter if you broke a world record or if you won the race, they cannot count your time or position in the race.
The numbers in the title of a race are the distances the swimmers are going. The higher the number, the longer the distance the swimmer is swimming. It can be measured in yards or meters.
A cliche that my coaches always told me about was "swim like a shark is chasing you"
which literally means, swim like a shark is chasing you. Swim as fast as you can.
Michael Phelps was born on June 30, 1985 and attended University of Michigan. He swims for the Olympic team.

I personally am already driving, but i'm getting my license on my 16th birthday. I think kids should just be smart enough to not use their phones while driving.

letting go

Today I decided to write about my past. And although is makes me uncomfortable and icky, I have to accept that it is a part of my life and I must talk about it.
Up until I was seven, my family was decently wealthy. We went on a Disney World trip over the summer and that's when my dad got a call from his boss that the business shut down and my mom was unemployed. And because of this stress, anger began to arise in the house. My dad slept on the couch and there was constant yelling going around. We couldn't afford our house anymore so we moved out to a smaller place and rented it. My room was an office that I shared with my dad. The arguing became worse and sometimes when my dad was gone, my mom would call me horrible names, even occasionally slap me.
My dad picked my siblings and I up from school one day, bought us ice cream and sat us in the back of my uncle's trailer. He told us that he had divorced my mom. He was living in that trailer with no shower, office or free space.
Just a few months later, I started getting bullied. Bullying was a huge part of my life from that point on.
In January of 2014, my dad married a woman I had never met and I was furious with him. I sided with my abusive mother and created lots of bad energy in my life.
Bullying continued to play on and get worse as middle school passed by. By the end of 6th grade I was purposefully hurting myself.
Moving onto 7th grade, I started to see my dad more. I was visiting him every weekend and a couple days a week. I spent some of the summer with him and some of the summer with my mom. At this time, I started to develop serious depression and I isolated myself from others and hurt myself almost daily.
I attempted suicide in March of 2015.
At the start of 8th grade, I ran away and never saw my mom again, to this day. My self harm was getting worse and so did bullying. Over the winter break of 2015 I was raped and I continuously blamed myself for it. In February of 2016, I was sexually harassed by the boy sitting next to me in class. He was only suspended for a week and I was removed from the class.
February 12th was the last day that I ever hurt myself. As I continued to live with my dad, my life started to get better. I pulled myself out of depression and have not spoken to my mom for over a year now.
This is dedicated to accepting my past and becoming a newer version of myself, and to show others that it gets better; you just have to believe it will.
Find your passion and believe that you can do anything, and you will.

long response:
Families and parents get to decide where their children go to school, unlike now where you have to apply. Douglas Harris thinks that school choice is not enough, he thinks that the government needs to be involved in schooling. Brendan Steinhouser's opinion is that school choice is a no-brainer, and he wants the limited government. I have never attended private school or been home schooled, but my sister is home schooled and she complains about it a lot. When you're home schooled, you're not affected by anything else, the only things that you can think about are made by your teacher. I think my parents would let me go wherever I wanted because they want to do what's best for me and the only person who knows that is, well, me. I would never go to private school. If I went to a private school, I might behave better, but I would also miss the wild fights and pranks and stuff in public school.

Lone Star Dispatch Issue #4

1. Black History Month
This story was about how African-Americans have affected the world today and how much they have given up for everyone to have freedom and even just the ability to vote, including their lives. And although some may say racism is getting better to this day, some think that it isn't - it's just going backwards.

Who: African Americans/teachers at Bowie and students
What: Their opinions on Black history month
Where: Bowie High school/Worldwide
When: The month of February
Why: To learn about the African-American culture and appreciate what they have done for us.
How: By using music, food and education to teach us all about the African American culture and how much they have affected us.
Who was quoted: Joyce Brisco, Amanda Pfeiffer, Oluwaseyi and Oluwaseun Odufuye, Jeremy Faulkner, Vicki Hebert.
What was the strongest quote: "People should educate themselves in black history and then they should get the importance of staying educated, the importance of unity, of being brave and always standing up for your rights. I feel like people need to come together more right now to fight, especially since we have a racist misogynist as a president. We need to stand up together."
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? No, it was mainly the headline and art that pulled me in - I wanted to read more about what people's opinions were and what stories they would tell.

2. Peaceful protesters hope to solve long-lasting problems
This story was about the women's march after the inauguration of Donald Trump and how it was non-violent. As for the people who thought it wouldn't do anything - it can catch the attention of people who can do something.

Who: Women, men and anything in between who believe in gender equality.
What: The protests downtown
Where: Downtown, around the city
When: Inauguration of Donald Trump
Why: Belief in equality through everyone
How: The non-violent protests around downtown and creating a "scene" to catch attention to the people with more power.
Who was quoted: no one.
What was the strongest quote: there wasn't any quotes, but this whole story gave me chills throughout. It really catches the scene, and although I couldn't be there to support anything, I still love to see pictures of it and stories - they really touch me.
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading? YES!!!

3. Running off the beaten path
This story was about Dawson Warken who is a big runner and continues to run through his all 4 years of school. He is still unsure about continuing it after high school, depending on his times.

Who:Dawson Warnken
What: He loves running and has won awards for his times and his team.
Where: Bowie High School, outside of school.
When: All four years of high school
Why: He loves running
How: Coaches inspired him
Who was quoted: Warken, Hannah Erb, Alejandro Garcia
What was the strongest quote: "Dawson is a very social kid who is great with all other students. He's so nice to everyone that he encounters and is the most down to earth person I know. I'm sure all of his friends would say the same thing."
Did the lead sentence make you want to keep reading?  YES.

Photos:
A2 - Teacher of the year photo

I love the photo because he looks very happy in the photo. Too many teacher now always look like they hate their jobs - students will not be inspired to go to school if their teachers hate going to school, too. Students want motivation, and when they are not getting it, they are yet again blamed for attendance problems and failing grades  - TEACHERS LISTEN UP! YOU ARE THE START OF IT ALL.

What rule of composition do you see in the photo? Rule of thirds.
Who or what is the main subject? Marco Bazan
Is the photo exposed properly? Yes.
Do you see evidence of a shallow or deep depth of field? shallow.

B1- Close Connection

I love this photo because, first of all, I love horses, but second of all, you can see the connection she has with her horse and how comfortable they feel with each other.

What is the rule of composition? framing?
Who or what is the main subject? Celeste and her horse.
Is the photo exposed properly? It's kind of small, but it looks like it.
Do you see evidence of a shallow or deep depth of field? Shallow.

B7 - Focusing on the Yo-yo

I love this photo because it doesn't look like he's in the middle of a chaotic situation, he's in front of a very simple background and it creates dimension with the yo-yo.

rule of composition - rule of thirds?
main subject - Matthew Lane
exposed properly? yes.
shallow or deep? deep.

A8 - On the Beam

I love this photo because you can see her great form and she is frozen in time upside down. It creates a really cool image.

rule of composition - avoiding mergers
main subject - Kate Stubbs
exposed properly? yes.
Shallow or deep? deep.

B8 - starting young

I absolutely LOVE this photo. I get chills every time I look at it. I am such a supporter of this whole thing women are starting to do, and men.

rule of composition - framing?
main subject - the little boy
exposed properly? yes.
shallow or deep? shallow.

My favorite photo in the whole newspaper is the photo of the little boy on the back of the paper. He is so young, learning respect from such a young age, and the fact that he participated in the march gives me chills everywhere. I have so much respect for that family.

My least favorite photo in the paper would be the "behind the scenes of 'who's tommy' musical" because I know what it looks like in a newspaper when you just need a photo to fill the page and you pick something, that's what that looks like. When I see that image, I don't feel anything.

I would have loved to shoot the women's march. Whoever got to shoot that is blessed.

I would rate the photography in this issue maybe a 9 out of 10, there were just a couple photos in here that could have been better. I want to read a newspaper and have every photo I see touch me, make me feel something. I would have wanted that from this newspaper - that would've given this newspaper a 10.

Casual Portrait

Image result for casual portraits
I picked this photo because she is very serious. It's obviously posed, but it still gives you emotion and makes you wonder why she's so serious?

Self portraits
Image result for self portraits
I really like this one because it has motion and gives the photo emotion and action.
Image result for self portraits
This is something like I wanted to do with mine, create a "ghost" of you in the background. I really like this one because of the ghost.

Self Portrait plan -
My plan for my self portrait is to do something more abstract, more out of the ordinary. I really like the idea of making "a ghost" of me in the background and just put it on a low shutter speed and move a little bit. I have a blank white wall at my house, but I think it would look way cooler if I set up a black sheet and put the flash on the camera, that will give me even more of the blurred version of me in the background.

The Army Corps of Engineers was fighting to not have it done because of the risk of poisoning all of the drinking water. It changed the time span that it could be done in, instead of 2 years, it went to three months. He told people to reconsider Darcy's decision. The project will cost $3.8 billion. The oil could possibly poison all of the drinking water. They said governments and pipeline companies should be expecting violence. I don't think the pipeline should be completed. I think people should think about the people who need the drinking water and the land; do we not see yet that we are destroying our planet???? I think we should just ship the oil - truck, car, plane, I don't care. STOP DESTROYING OUR PLANET!!!

Senate Bill 4 is a bill that requires all Texas cities to enforce federal immigration laws or lose state money.

It was intended to boost penalties against offending federal governments and to extend its requirements to university police departments.

I personally think it will start a rage through immigrants and nonimmigrants, for most of the people in Austin actually care about others.

I am opposed of it. I don't see why we need to enforce these laws and bills when the immigrants aren't even harming us... but when they do, it's not everyone. Most of them come here because they want a better life.

5. Blue Dahlia Bistro

Long response:

First of all, the wall would be so expensive to make, and it would very strongly negatively effect our economy and destroy theirs. It would be more than 800 miles of wall, which would be so incredibly long to make and some parts go over private properties.

I think Trump just wants the wall up to piss people off because he knows we can't do anything about it. It only personally affects me by just making me angry. I would probably move out of the US if I had the choice.

I personally think the wall is an incredibly immature thing for trump to do because he just wants a sense of power.

I don't think it will be built. People will refuse to build it, cause it's not like Trump is going to build it himself.

No one should pay to support trump in anything!!

If the wall absolutely has to be built and payed for, we should charge the government. NO ONE SUPPORTS THIS WHY SHOULD WE ALL PAY???

three pillars of photography

f2.8

f16

1. our eyes

2. the smaller the aperture, the larger the f-number. the higher the aperture, the smaller the f-number.

3. depth of field is when the f-number impacts the background and foreground - how they would blur or focus.

high

low

a. slow
b. slow
c. fast
d. fast
e. fast
f. fast

a. slow
b. slow
c. fast
d. slow
e. slow
f. slow

slow shutter speed - the camera opens the lens very slowly, usually blurring any motion
long shutter speed - usually over 1 second shutter speeds - used in low-light or night photography
fast shutter speed - freezes action , typically above 1/500th of a second

1.it could be dark, so your photos would be more focused
2. use low ISO when there is plenty of light
3. when there is not enough light

aperture 2.8-22
shutterspeed 1sec-1/4000 sec
ISO 100-25600

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

1. There's a time and place (and amount of photo manipulation) for everything. And yes, there is a stopping point for an amount of photo manipulation to where it is unethical.

2. Even toning photos without disclosure can cost you your job.

3. When you get to the point of where you are manipulating people's natural existence, I think that is where you are to the point of being unethical.

4.

I think that this was the worst manipulation because they completely changed her skin color, face, background and everything. That was very unethical of the editor or photographer.

5.

I think this photo is the least unethical because from what I read in the caption, it sounds like he wanted it edited, and he just wanted to seem more heroic.

short answer:
1. more than 3,000 educators in its first 10 years

3. Health Care, Marijuana, E-commerce, Tech, Home and building maintenance.
4. Array of photos, movie - big screen, artifacts, hall of fame.
5. prediction 1 : the wheels start to fall off at twitter
prediction 2: "Alexa, prepare for a backlash"
prediction 3: Apple's woes will get worse before things get better
prediction 4: uber and lyft back in Austin by summer
prediction 5: AMD acquistino rumors revived

Long response:
If I was in or outside of school, I wouldn't watch it anyways. To be honest, I just don't want to hear all of the bullshit come out of trump's mouth about how happy he is to be president of the United States - I could care less what he has to say about his life. Donald Trump is THE LAST person on my list of people I would love to listen to. I wouldn't want to waste my time listening to a bunch of bullshit. I'd much rather be listening to a Ted Talk about Nigerian Young Authors or writing my book than have to hear his stupid voice and whatever the heck he has to say about presidency - which is obviously something he is very inexperienced on. I have much more important things to do with my life.

cropping

This photo is cropping because I would most likely think that the photographer wasn't actually this close to the person in the photo or he would have noticed that they were there and looked awkward.

symmetry and patterns

This photo is symmetry and patterns because of the lines of black and white consistently going across the photo, creating a pattern that focuses the main subject (the falling man) mainly.

create depth

This photo to me creates depth because the photographer caught the building falling, creating the kinda of 3D look in the photo, almost like you're in the scene with them. The depth is in the building falling apart and how focused it is.

viewpoint

This photo is viewpoint because I know most of the photos on 9/11 were taken on ground, where most photographers get, but this looks as if it was all the way out on the water, like the photographer was in a boat or plane.

avoiding mergers

This photo is avoiding mergers because the smoke and sky are such different colors, they create a harsh line of difference in the picture. The building is also dark, which follows the avoiding mergers rule because the sky is very light.

framing

This photo is framing because the main focus is the light, which is out of place in the photo, making the darkness completely around the blown out the "frame" of the photo.

balance

This photo is balance because even with some chaos in the background and around the main focus with all the firefighters, but the main focus is the guy who is out of place, the one not in the firefighter suit and he's helping the firefighter, creating balance in the photo.

lines

This one is obviously lines because of the lines in the picture, but it is leading lines because of the line falling or heading in the same direction of the guy falling, making him the off centre thing and it confuses you, making him the main focus.

rule of thirds

I see this as the rule of thirds because the main focus is on the right side, the buildings on fire. But it could also be seen as rule of thirds the other way around where the plane is the main focus, it's just where the eye goes first.

simplicity

I see this as simplicity because the main focus when you look at this, the first thing you see is the background. Yes, simplicity is usually in the background, but the foreground is very simple and blank.

welcome back!

I picked this photo because the story behind it really touches me. There seems to be a lot of tear gas releases recently and it's obvious in the photo that the boy is coughing, yet he helps the other boy.

I picked this photo because it hurts me to look at it. It makes me think about what I would do if that was me.

I picked this photo because it makes me wonder what it would be like to be stuck in a situation like that.

My favorite song of 2016 would probably have to be Logic Slave 2 because the music touches me and I love the beat. Logic also has a repeated talent for using very deep lyrics, so I love to listen to his music when I'm in the feels.

My favorite movie of 2016 was Arrival. I saw it with my ex and it made me just think about if life was actually like that, if something were to happen to Earth, how would we react?

I think the most important news story of this year was that NASA found 1,284 new planets that could support life. We are constantly looking for a new planet to live on just because we can't freaking take care of this one.

Image result for CRISPRI think the people that win people of the year is the CRISPR scientists because we always need knew sources of technology for science and anything new that we can discover is a benefit to the human race.

I think the biggest sports event of 2016 in my opinion was the FINA World Swimming Championships because swimming is such a big part of my life and I love watching other people swim so I can see what I can change about my strokes and diving, etc.

One thing over my holiday that I had the most fun with was working. I got a job at Galaxy Cafe about a month ago and I love it.

My biggest goal for 2017 is to stay organized, fit and happy. I'm trying to stay drama free and just have fun with my life.

I'm looking forward to getting a car this year and being able to drive myself to school and everywhere else.
